Books We Highly Recommend!

(Still under construction! Ok, it’s been several months. I hope we get around to finishing this sometime.) This really is a golden age for mathematics books written for a general audience.

Martin Gardner is the absolute dean of mathematical writing; the best of his Mathematical Games columns, appearing in Scientific American for 30 years, have been collected in The Colossal Book of Mathematics; hundreds of mathematical puzzles have been collected in The Colossal Book of Mathematical Puzzles. These are brilliant, and accessible to anyone with an active mind.

Here are some of the hundreds of interesting books that we’ve enjoyed over the years, divided into catagories.

  • Mathematical Puzzles
  • General Interest
  • Books on Topology and Geometry
  • Books on Logic and Metamathematics
